For those voters on the fence or long-time Democrats, this will likely be the America of Kamala Harris …
Many of you are not thrilled about either of the two candidates for President but are still likely to vote for Kamala Harris given you consider yourself to be a loyal Democrat. Before you do please consider this partial list of information contained here before you make that fateful decision.
Here are a number of key issues to examine in determining your level of agreement with the Democrat candidate:
Abortion –
- The political ‘buzz-phase’ this season is that Harris would protect a woman’s right to “reproductive freedom” meaning abortion. Of course, abortion is precisely the opposite of reproduction. Harris is by far, the most radical pro-abortion candidate in American history. She has gone out of her way to not vocalize any restrictions, including 3rd trimester abortions when asked on numerous occasions.
- Her running mate, Tim Walz, eagerly pushed Minnesota’s “Protect Reproductive Options Act” that has no restrictions (other than the health of the “mother”) on any abortions whatsoever including 3rd trimester abortions.
- As California Attorney General, Harris was a strong supporter of undermining crisis pregnancy centers in her state until the Supreme Court stopped her.
- Harris voted against the “Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act” that would have required treatment to an infant that survived an abortion attempt. She chose to leave the baby lie untreated until it died.
- Harris supports repeal of the Hyde Amendment that restricts tax dollars from being used to pay for abortions.
- (Donald Trump says he will seek no national law restricting abortion but will leave the matter in the hands of individual states much to the opposition of many in his own party, including his former Vice-President.)
Border Security –
- Since fiscal year 2021, 10.8 million illegal migrant “encounters” have been recorded by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) compared to approximately 3 million from 2017-2020 or during the Trump administration.
- The Biden/Harris administration have welcomed in over 64,000 Chinese nationals while in office compared to just 5,700 under Trump.
- More than 400,000 “inadmissible aliens” from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela have been paroled and flown into dozens of airports throughout the U.S. The prevailing philosophy is that bringing in (over 2 million per year) illegal immigrants to “seed” the battleground states with future likely Democrat voters will eventually turn these valuable states permanently blue.
California for America –
- Harris is a solid California Progressive. She could bring California, the highest poverty state, to America. (Census Bureau’s Supplemental Poverty Measure)
- California is the most expensive place in the country to live.
- California has extremely high taxes (chasing many individuals and companies to exit the state.
- California had the nation’s first “safe” injection sites.
- San Francisco even has a guaranteed income for the transgender community.
Deep State –
- Harris, like nearly all Progressives, is a strong supporter of the so-called “Deep State,” the over 2 million unelected D.C. bureaucrats, consultants, lobbyists and NGOs (Non-governmental organizations) along with assorted lawyers and support organizations. The bureaucrats living close to Washington, paid by tax dollars extracted from “productive” America, have made their counties enormously wealthy. In fact, five of the ten wealthiest counties in the country are suburbs of D.C. including the top two wealthiest (Loudoun and Falls Church counties).
Economic (Inflation) Issues –
“Real median earnings declined 1.6% last year for full-time workers last year under the Biden/Harris administration. It makes real median household income lower than it was in 2019 under Trump.
Inflation
- Inflation has averaged 5.3% per year during the Biden/Harris years compared to just 2.1% under Trump.
- “Greedflation” is the reason for this jump in inflation as Harris and Sen. Casey put it. According to Harris, the greedy food retailers are the primary reason for high grocery store prices. She fails to mention that the grocery retail industry has one of the lowest profit margins in the country. Blaming inflation on “price gouging” demonstrates complete economic illiteracy. Bureaucrats would enforce price controls for the first time since 1971 when under Richard Nixon, it proved completely unmanageable.
- Harris has vowed to “take on corporate landlords and cap unfair rent increases.” Even Obama’s chief of his Council of Economic Advisors, Jason Furman, said government overseen rent control “has been about as disgraced as any economic policy in the tool kit.”
- Homeowners insurance is up 38% since 2019 and auto insurance is up 46% since 2020.
Tax Policy
- Harris has proposed an increase in the amount small businesses can deduct for start-up expenses from $5,000 to $50,000. Great idea, and originally a Republican idea (H.R.6756 was opposed by most Democrats 260-156) when House Republicans tried to increase the amount to $20k.
- Harris proposes as much as a 40% increase in the capital gains tax rate. Virtually every capital gains tax rate increases over the last 50 years have resulted in lower tax revenue in the first few years they went into effect.
- Harris’ most egregious plan is a 25% tax on unrealized gains for those with a net worth above $100 million, what she calls her “Billionaire’s minimum tax”. This would throw Wall Street into a tailspin as assets would have to be sold to pay the tax.
- Harris plans to let the 2017 tax rate cuts expire. IRS data show these cuts amounted to a rate cut of 16% to 26% for those earning up to $50,000; 17% for earners up to $100,000, 11% to 13% for incomes up to $500,000, 9% for household earnings to $1 million and just 6% for earners over $1 million. This clearly demonstrates that the lower the income, the greater the rate cut.
National Debt/Deficit
- Means tested social welfare spending totaled $1.6 trillion in 2023. This amount dwarfed every other spending category.
- Biden/Harris losses on student loans, subprime loans and credit and loan guarantees are about $65 billion.
- Biden/Harris administration budget deficit is now $1.8 trillion. Or put another way, the federal government is spending $3.5 million per minute that we have to borrow or simply print.
- In America, there has never been a time with so much fiscal stimulus with Americans actually getting poorer (inflation adjusted income).
Wages
- In 2019, Harris proposed that the federal government oversee all salary decisions for roughly 80 million workers. Employers with more than 100 employees would have to prove to a bureaucrat that any salary decision was based on some criterion other than gender. Instead of an employee having to prove they were being discriminated against, the company would have to prove they weren’t. Fines would be enormous, 1% of earnings for every 1% wage gap.
IRS
- Harris was the deciding vote (as Vice-President) in the passage of the deceptively named, “Inflation Reduction Act,” which among other things supersized the IRS with an enormous budget increase that purportedly adds 87,000 new agents.
Education / School Choice –
- Harris actively seeks to crush school choice or allowing parents to apply their tax dollars to the private or charter school of their choice. She is fully supportive of the national teachers’ monopoly which have enthusiastically expressed their support for her.
1619 Project
- Harris has expressed her full support for teaching the “1619 Project” in America’s schools. It instructs that the country was founded on slavery; that the real founding of the United States was 1619 when the first slaves arrived in Jamestown.
Energy / Environment / Climate Issues –
- Harris has been fully supportive of the so-called Green New Deal, the multi-trillion dollar pie-in-the-sky plan that would eliminate all fossil fuels, nuclear power, combustion-engine vehicles, gas grills, gas stoves and current air-conditioners while requiring the gutting and retro-fitting of virtually every building in America.
- The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) has issued a report showing that fracking has reduced CO2 emissions over the past decade more than any so-called, renewable energy subsidies. Harris now says she won’t “ban” fracking but her history says otherwise.
- Harris will likely destroy the natural gas industry by continuing the Biden practice of reducing/eliminating leases and killing LNG exports. Fracking will be considerably more difficult under a Harris administration and hence, prohibitively expensive.
- Harris’ vote saved the “Inflation Reduction Act” which would have virtually eliminated oil and gas offshore leases had it not been for Joe Manchin’s last minute provision in the bill. She now takes credit for what she opposed.
- Harris on Jimmy Fallon’s show in 2019: “Climate change is the single greatest threat facing our world today. That’s why I am committed to passing a Green New Deal, creating clean jobs and finally putting an end to fracking once and for all.”
- In 2022 Harris announced $1 billion in grants for EV school buses with highly flammable lithium batteries.
Gender Issues –
- Biden/Harris issued new rules for “Title IX” that went into effect on August 1, 2024. Women’s sports have now been completely changed. Essentially “gender identity” replaces “biological woman” for the purposes of Title IX. If schools are to receive federal funding, female privacy and exclusivity are gone.
- Biden/Harris made a transwoman a four-star admiral with zero military experience, proudly announcing they had promoted the first “woman” four-star officer.
Guns –
- Harris: “We will work to pass universal background checks, red flag laws and an assault weapons ban.” (My emphasis)
- Harris: “Just because you legally possess a gun in the sanctity of your locked home doesn’t mean that we’re not going to walk into that home and check to see if you’re being responsible …” (My emphasis)
Justice and Racial Issues –
- Harris believes in “social justice” over pure or blind “justice”. She is part of a group like former Attorneys General Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch who believes certain minorities are disproportionately incarcerated (regardless of the fact they commit crimes disproportionately.
- Harris believes Michael Brown (of “hands up, don’t shoot” fame) was unjustly murdered in Ferguson, Missouri yet it was Obama’s Department of Justice that concluded the shooting was justified by Officer Darren Wilson who was fighting for his life. Nevertheless, Harris tweeted: “Michael Brown’s murder forever changed Ferguson and America. His tragic death sparked a desperately needed conversation and a nationwide movement. We must fight for stronger accountability and racial equity in our justice system.”
- Harris (w Biden) sought a National Security Council team at the DOJ and FBI to investigate “domestic terrorism” and search for “homegrown extremists.”
- Harris tweeted her support for the Minnesota Freedom Fund, the organization that raised funds to bail out protesters and rioters during the George Floyd riots in that state.
- “Harris praised the defund the police movement in 2020…” said the CNN headline. She praised Los Angeles when it cut $150 million from its police budget. Now that she’s running for President, she says she was just trying to get police budgets more closely examined.
Racism
- Biden/Harris administration on its very first day issued a statement that America is a racist country and suffers from systemic racism.
- Harris argued on the floor of the Senate that American medical care is biased against black women.
- Biden/Harris administration strongly pushes DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) hires over merit and has done so hundreds of times throughout the administration.
- Harris: “If our goal is truly about equality, it has to be a goal of everybody ending up in the same place. And since we didn’t all start out in the same place, some folks might need more.” (My emphasis) Or how about Harris saying, “We are proud of the fact that equity is one of our guiding principles.
Reparations
- Then Senator Kamala Harris was a co-sponsor of a bill with Sen. Cory Booker to study the feasibility of reparations for the descendants of slaves. Booker said, “This bill is a way of addressing head-on the persistence of racism, white supremacy, and implicit racial bias in our country.”
Voter Suppression
- “Let’s say this loud and clear,” said Ms. Harris, “Without voter suppression, Stacey Abrams would be the governor of Georgia. Andrew Gillum is the governor of Florida.”
Law (and Senate Filibuster) –
- This past session, only Senators Joe Manchin and Krysten Sinema, both of whom are retiring, voted to stop Democrats from ending the filibuster, the 60 vote requirement to effectively pass legislation. Harris would support Chuck Shumer’s plan to destroy it along with Sen. Casey who indicated his support for this radical effort as well. They know this would open the floodgates to virtually every legislative desire the extreme Progressives have had for decades, including adding justices to the Supreme Court (which has had nine justices since 1869).
- Harris stated on Wisconsin Public Radio, “”I think we should eliminate the filibuster for Roe [v. Wade], and get us back to the point where 51 votes would be what we need to actually put back in law the protections for reproductive freedom.”
- Sen. Manchin said, “Shame on her, she knows the filibuster is the Holy Grail of democracy. It’s the only thing that keeps us talking and working together.”
Medicare for All and Health Care –
- As a senator, Kamala Harris was a co-sponsor of Bernie Sanders’ “Medicare for All” bill (S.1804).
- Biden/Harris administration issued an emergency regulation requiring all healthcare workers get the COVID-19 “vaccine.”
- Harris: (“)Well, listen, the idea is that everyone gets access to medical care. And you don’t have to go through the process of going through an insurance company, having them give you approval, going through the paperwork – all of the delay that may require. Who of us has not had that situation, where you’ve got to wait for approval, and the doctor says, ‘Well, I don’t know if your insurance company is going to cover this?’ Let’s eliminate all of that. Let’s move on.” She has now retracted this statement as she tries to moderate her positions while a national candidate. But the above statement likely reflects her true sentiments on the matter.
Right to Work –
- Harris seeks to have a national ban. She is for “banning right-to-work laws” in all states that currently have them.
Wars and Military –
- Biden/Harris administration has spent over $137 billion on military and economic aid to Ukraine.
- Biden/Harris’ exit from Afghanistan was one of the most deadly and internationally embarrassing military efforts in American history. Not only were 13 service members killed but the drone attack they authorized in response to the suicide bomber mistakenly killed ten members of one family including seven children. Two were two-year-old girls.
This is not a complete list. It does, however, give a prospective voter and clear indication of the depth of Kamala Harris’ radical Progressivism. In just a few days we’ll find out if the United States is still the land of the free or more closely emulates Tim Walz’s beloved China.
